Was it the same Alf Cook who was foreman at the Alvis Service Department in Job’s Lane Coventry during the 1960’s? If so, his brother, Len, was a fitter in the Service department a the same time, specialising in front suspension. Alf’s son, Ron Cook had 50 year’s service with Alvis, much of it in the Experimental Department, where he was Superintendent. Never a family firm in the conventional sense, but there were several examples of Alvis employing members of the same family for many years.

Seems quite a coincidence if it is not the same Alf Cook, shall make further enquiries.
